Initial Postpartum Session
(In-person Only)
You did it—baby is here!
Congratulations! Baby is here and ready to be nourished. Our initial postpartum consultation is designed to provide hands-on lactation training. This visit is personalized to provide the individualized support you need during this transition. Because this is such an important time for you and baby to develop good feeding habits and skills, we at Blyssful Rivers believe this is best done in person to provide you with the tools you need. We will work together to develop a realistic and functional feeding plan that fits your lifestyle and goals. You will receive a written summary of recommendations, and a full report will be sent to your baby’s pediatrician.
Your 90-minute in-person visit includes:
● A full review of your medical and birth history
● Discussion of any previous lactation experience
● A comprehensive breast and oral assessment
● Observation of a full feeding session—whether you’re nursing, pumping, or bottle feeding
● Baby will be weighed at the start of the session, and if directly latching, post-feed weights will be taken to assess milk transfer.
This consultation is ideal for any parent who:
● Is experiencing difficulty latching
● Has sore or painful nipples
● Is concerned about milk supply or baby’s weight
● Simply wants reassurance that things are on track
